Sassy Wyatt
Sassy was born without a disability, but an accident triggered early onset arthritis at the age of seven. A wheelchair user for the majority of her childhood, Sassy started losing vision at the age of 14; and by September 2013, had lost the last of her vision. Sassy is a guide dog owner and loves to travel the world with her adventurous pup, Ida.
Sassy's determination and wit empowers people to be more disability confident and challenge perceptions.
Not every disabled person wants to be a Paralympian, so it's imperative that all disabled voices are heard. Sassy has featured in The Metro, The Evening Standard, The Huffington Post, Elle Magazine, Channel 4 and The BBC.
Whether it's a sound-bite for radio, a 20-minute talk to the youth of today, or speaking to hundreds about changing the landscape of accessible tourism, Sassy doesn't shy away from the hard issues or the ever-present question: ”How do you pick up your Guide Dog’s poo?
“I want to make the world a more accessible place, but this is not a solo mission. That's why The Disability Taskforce is so perfect - we are basically the disabled avengers.”
