Happy Tuesday everyone!

National Inclusion Week 2024 runs from 23rd – 29th September this year.  If you’re anything like us, you’ll know that time flies (scarily quickly sometimes!), so now would be a good time to begin preparing to mark this week in your organisation.

National Inclusion Week was founded by Inclusive Employers and is dedicated to encouraging everyone to take personal responsibility to act in service of creating more inclusive workplaces.

The theme this year is #ImpactMatters which speaks to the need to create long-term sustainable change in your cultures when it comes to inclusion.

This resonates deeply with us at The Hobbs Consultancy. We believe that one of the barriers in the way of organisations making a long-term impact is that DEI is not being seen as a cultural change piece.  In order to achieve any impact, people need to be fully on board with why DEI is important and so be part of the change required to shift the culture.  As our behaviour is driven by our thoughts and feelings, it is those aspects of ourselves that we need to be addressing to foster longer lasting change.

Culture Amp’s Workplace Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Report highlights a decrease in DEI action, putting it down to several factors, including lack of leadership support and failure to embed DEI strategies into their wider organisational strategies.

This may well be what is leading HR professionals’ decrease in confidence in their organisation’s dedication to DEI.  This stagnation, consequently, means no action and, therefore, no impact.

What is your organisation doing to re-ignite the impact of your DEI strategies and create more inclusive cultures?

We’ve put together some action-based training options that are specifically designed to have a longer-lasting impact on your culture. You can have a look at them here.

If you’re interested in discussing how these might integrate into your DEI and culture change efforts, we are also offering a 1-hour, no commitment, free consultancy session to explore this with you – just contact us and we’ll set up a meeting.
