Andy Shipley
Andy Shipley is a freelance facilitator and consultant, specialising in inclusive design, accessibility and inclusion.
Andy has a visual impairment, with lived experience of being a guide dog and long cane user. He has worked in the field of disability equality and inclusive design for over 25 years.
He has influenced government policy through his roles as Policy Manager for the Disability rights Commission; Policy Adviser to Department for Communities and Local government; Member of government’s Building Regulations Advisory Committee; Lifetime Homes Coordinator for Habinteg Housing; Policy and Campaigns Manager for Aspire.
Andy has been a Chair of two disability charities and Trustee of the Town and country Planning Association.
Andy is the former Chair of British Standards Institute committee B559 (Design of an accessible and Inclusive Built Environment, as well as being a member of Network Rail’s Built Environment Accessibility Panel.
Andy was also a Commissioner for a Sustainable London 2012, overseeing the delivery of the inclusion objectives for the London Olympic and Paralympic games.
