We are in the midst of preparing for this year’s Masculinity in the Workplace event, which is our 9th! As is usual, the event will be held on International Men’s Day, the 19th November.

Marcus Brigstocke is now confirmed as one of our keynote speakers which we are super excited about.

While we work on the rest of the line-up, we wanted to share with you the theme for this year’s hybrid event and encourage you to save the date and to bring your team along – this year we will be opening the in-person experience to our network (that’s you!).

The theme for this year is Supporting Boys to Men to Role Models.

What’s the thinking behind this, we hear you ask?  And why does it matter to businesses?

Simply put, the future of your workplace depends on how well we support today’s boys and young men.

And these groups are in crisis. Whilst the last hundred years have been marked by great leaps forward in outcomes and rights for women, in this generation it is boys who are being left behind. And by some margin.

  • Young women are now consistently out earning young men in the 16-24 age bracket
  • Young men are facing worse educational outcomes
  • Mental health challenges are peaking, with suicide still the leading cause of death for young men
  • Boys and young men don’t have positive model of manhood at home, in schools or in workplaces

Many men enter the workforce emotionally unprepared, struggling to build trust, collaborate, or lead with empathy.  Organisations then face the consequences: disengaged employees, losing talent and a lack of psychological safety.

This year’s event will seek to understand the concerns and barriers that are in the way for boys and men, particularly looking at key inflection points in their lives. It will suggest that positive masculine role models and vulnerable conversations are part of the solution, knowing that support and healing may be needed (for all genders) to be able to step up.

This event is designed to provoke fresh thinking and provide practical tools for:

Parents navigating how to raise emotionally healthy boys

Leaders wanting to model healthier masculinity in the workplace

Colleagues seeking to support men around them in more constructive ways

HR and DEI professionals building inclusive workplaces that address all gender-based challenges

If you’re interested in being part of shaping a better future for the men and boys in your life, whether at home or at work, you can book your tickets here.

As an organisation, if you’re interested in being more involved, we will have some space for partners so drop us an email for a chat!
