We are super excited to share with you our new partnership with Awaken Coach Institute in delivering an ICF accredited coaching training programme, facilitated by Roxanne Hobbs and Christi Byerly.

Our 60-hour programme will start with a 30-hour intensive retreat, held in a beautiful location in Andalusia, Spain, and we’d love you to come with us!

But why should you invest in coaching training?

How being a coach can transform the way you lead…

Training to become a coach has been a transformational experience for me, and not only because of the vast amount of coaching you receive as you go through your training. When you take a coaching approach, you shift from a directive style to one that emphasises empowerment, active listening, empathy and continuous growth.

For me, coaching ended up being a complete career pivot. However, for many it is an extra tool to have in your toolkit as an effective leader.

Here’s some ways it can support you as a leader:

1. Empowers your team
A coaching approach means believing in your team. Rather than delegating or instructing tasks, a coaching approach means asking powerful questions so that they find the solutions on their own. Over time this increases confidence and accountability.

2. Enhances listening skills
How often, when you are truly busy, are you sat there waiting for people to finish talking so you can say what you desperately want to say?! As a coach, you will learn active listening which helps to create a trusting space where colleagues are more likely to share their ideas, challenges and vulnerability.

3. Adopts a growth mindset
By adopting a growth mindset, you encourage your team to see challenges as opportunities for learning rather than obstacles. In turn, this will nurture creativity and a willingness to embrace change and take calculated risks in the service of innovation and growth.

4. Builds psychological safety
We all know how important this is to teams, and coaching builds this trust by showing that you value your teams’ input. Failure becomes less scary and, again, calculated risks are possible. Furthermore, the empathy skills and self-management skills that you learn, will enhance the willingness of your team to be vulnerable.

5. Encourages ownership of development and self-reflection
Accountability shifts from a top-down mandate to a mutually agreed framework for success. By encouraging self-reflection, powerful coaching questions help your team to identify their strengths and areas for improvement.

Come with us and start your journey to being a coach,

Rox x

What people say about the Awaken Coaching Training programme:

“I completed my in-person coach training with Awaken Institute in October 2022.  The objective was to gain coaching skills to bring to work and I got both that as well as an incredible and transformative experience.  Christi and her faculty held the space beautifully and made the skills building practical, engaging and fun. I really enjoyed having all their different experiences and perspectives to draw on and they were so generous and accepting throughout the course.  It was more than just coaching skills, it was an environment in which we were supported to be vulnerable and go deep.  Beyond the course, our group created a community that still supports each other now.”

"When I was looking to sign up to become a coach, the first person I went to for advice was my good friend and collaborator Roxanne Hobbs. Her advice was simple - you can either go for the well established executive coaching schools that will teach you the tools you can use and it will be easy. Or you can go completely out of your comfort zone and learn to sit with your feelings and the feelings of others and become someone who can truly hear what your coachee is saying. I took the latter option and signed up to Awaken Coaching's course in Kenya which has been transformational. In particular it has helped me embrace the power of silence. I am no longer scared of silence and have no issues creating moments of it in my coaching or workshops.
I chose a coaching programme that made me uncomfortable. That’s where the real learning happened."
